Chrome on Windows/Mac:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, select More (the three vertical dots) > Settings > Accessibility.
  3. Turn Live Caption on or off.

Windows/Edge (Windows 11 Only)

Note: Live captions is available in Windows 11, version 22H2 and later. This works with any audio from any application on Windows. 

Press in order and hold: Windows Logo key –>Ctrl –>L  to turn it Off/On

The first time, a banner will appear at the to confirming that you want to use Live captions. Click yes and the necessary files will be downloaded. When finished, you will need to click the keys again to activate the Live Captions. Captions will appear in the banner and the entire banner can be move to any spot on the screen or positioned by the gear icon.

For Mac OS on Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 processors and above) and System Language as English (US or Canada):

On your Mac, use Live Captions settings to turn Live Captions on or off, control how captions are styled, and turn them on or off in FaceTime. Learn how to use Live Captions. To change these settings, choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Accessibility in the sidebar, then click Live Captions on the right.
